Update to the new version when it comes out.
The League uses the newest official version of LFS! (This Excludes test patches).
Be on time:Log on to the server on time so we can start on time. When you are too late and missed the qualification (or a part of it) and/or the start of the race, you will start with a disadvantage.
It is possible to start in a race that is already running.
Driver name:Always use the same driver name every race. This is the name that you used when applying for the league.
Name servers:AB.nl[END]
AB.nl[FOR]
AB.nl[MID]
AB.nl[S2L]
AB.nl[PUB] (open demo-server without password but with stricter rules)
We race on a private server. A few days before the race you can find the passwords and servernames at our site. The passwords will change every week.
Racetrack: Closed Le Mans-league: Every race a different track with the GTR-class cars, see the forum for details.
Closed formula-league: Every race a different track with FBM, FOX, FO8 or BF1 , see the forum for details.
Open S2-league: Every race a different track and different cars, see the forum for details.
Open midweek: Every race a different track and different cars, see the forum for details.
Races:At absolute-beginners we have Open and Closed leagues:
Open league races:Every member of Absolute-beginners may join these races. You don't have to apply for these races. All you have to do, to join a race, is joining the server/host that will be running the race. You need the know the Servername and Password of course. You can find the password at the Passwords / Server-menu at our site.
Closed league races:If you want to join these races you have to apply for it. Our board of trusties decides if you may race in the closed leagues. If you have shown good sportsmanship in the past and you have driven the minimum of 3 races in our Open league then you are likely to become a closed league racer. If you have become a closed league racer, you will get a new menu at the right side of our website, with the servername and password for the next race.
Open S2 league race: Qualification: 15 min.
Race: +/- 45 min. (Number of laps depends on the track) There may be a pitstopwindow.

Pitstopwindows:In our races there can be pitstopwindows. During this window you must make a pitstop. If you don't have this pitstop, than you will be black flagged (disqualification). Before the start of the race, you can see a message with the pitstopwindow. Also you can see if the pits are open for your pitstopwindow-pitstop at the special pitboard from LFSlapper and how many stops you still have to make. You always are allowed to make more pitstops, of course.

The race results in LFS are the official results, unless someone has been disqualified. To score points you have to drive at least 50% of the race and you most finish of course. If you are not listed on the LFS score sheet then you score no points. This is to prevent players joining the last lap to score points. The results on the website will be updated as soon as possible after a race.
Championship:A championship season can be different in lenght. You can find the schedules at our forum. We have an individual championship and a team-championship. The team results are the combined scores of the drivers of a team. If drivers or teams have the same score, then the driver or team with the most points wins, 2nd-3rd-4th-places and so on will get a higher standing in the league, and, for example, become champion.
Championship in a championship:We have introduced a new class league were racers of the same level now also have a separate
"championship in a championship". The normal overall championship will stay the same as it always was. All drivers still race in the same race and with the same cars together. Additionally to this there will be a GP1, GP2 and GP3 ranking.
Example: Mazdarati, Aid and Riel are GP1-drivers, Postal, Weefelly and Drke are GP2, and Hans, TY and Starbert are GP3 drivers, all from a different kind of level. So Aid could become GP1 champion, Drke could go for the GP2-crown and Hans could be the champion in the GP3-ranking. We hope this makes it even more interesting to race with us. You may decide for yourself in what class (GP1, GP2 or GP3) you will race.
To see in the race which driver belongs to what ranking it is now
mandatory to put /1, /2 or /3 behind your racername. This way it is easy to see who belongs to what ranking.
It is not allowed to change Class during a season.
Teams:Teams can have max. 2 drivers. The team results are the combined scores of the drivers of a team.
Medal-system:We have a medal-system where you can see some achievements of our drivers. The following medals can be won:
Gold medal : for winning a race.
Silver medal : for second place in a race.
Bronze medal : for third place in a race.
Super Gold medal : for winning a championship.
Super Silver medal : for second place in a championship.
Super Bronze medal : for third place in a championship.
Full Raceserver:Sometimes, at popular racecombo's, it can be that the raceserver were the race is being held, is full. When this is the case, we split the grid into two separate races. The GP1 and GP2-Class will race together and the GP3-Class will have it's own race on another AB-raceserver. The admins can / will instantly decide about this. The combo's on each server will be the same , of course. To have an
Overall result after the races, the results of the two separate races will be combined to
ONE new result. This result depends on the total time each driver needs to complete the whole racingdistance.
Flags:Always respect blue or yellow flags. If you get a blue flag, this means a faster driver will lap you. Please let this faster driver pass you swiftly and without any hinderance. Don't spoil his race. In corners, you don't have to leave your driving line, but let them pass you as soon as you can at a straight section of the track.
If you get a yellow flag, beware, because in front of you some kind of accident has occurred. If it is necessary, lift your foot from the throttle-pedal, to avoid even more accidents. If you pass someone while under a yellow flag, please be sporty and give him his position back.
Crashing:If you crash your car or if you get stuck in the sand, you may reset to pits (shift P) and restart your race from the pits. However, you will lose all of you previously driven laps and so you will begin with ZERO laps. It is up to you to decide, if you try to reach the 50% of laps you need to score points or if you retire the race. You always have to finish to score points or to drive the fastest lap.
If you crash, please free the track as fast as you can, to avoid collisions with other drivers. If you use the track map, always look at it to see if there are drivers nearby. Let them pass first before you return to the track.
Help after crash/incident:If your car is for some reason unable to drive due to damage, landing on your roof after a crash/incident or running out of fuel, then it isn't allowed to let your car be pushed onto the wheel or over the finish line. (In case you would run out of fuel close to the end of a race)
The rules in these cases are simple, when you are out, that's it. You are allowed to restart and try to drive 50% of the laps, otherwise you have to retire.
People pushing other people back onto the wheel or over the finish line will receive a warning and if they would do it again, a more severe penalty can be applied.
Board of trusties:At Absolute-beginners we have a special board of trusties. The board of trusties consists of a few experienced drivers. What is the function of this? After each race, you have the whole next day to complain about some accident or something else that happened during the race. You can file for a complaint by sending a PM to one of the admins by stating the lap in which this happened and what happened. The Board of trusties will then decide via a poll about penalties. In the "Race incidents/complaints" forumsection you can see what penalty will be given. These penalties are always the deduction of championship-points to keep things clear. We do not give timepenalties after a race.
Board of trusties penalties:1. - racing incident - no penalty.
2. - warning - no deduction.
3. - mild infraction - 5p .
4. - reckless driving - 15p.
5. - very serious infraction - 30p deduction + possible other restrictions.
+ possible grid penalties +P5 +P10 +pitlane start.
Blue Flag and Yellow flag:
1. First infraction driver will be warned to respect flags.
2. If BF and YF rules will be broken in next race after warning was given - 3p deduction.
3. For not respecting flag rules properly from 3rd+ race - 5p.
BF and YF rules(that part will be released to public):
1. Driver who is executing overtaking must make sure it can be done safely.
2. Lapped driver don't have to let pass in mid corner, he should keep usual racing line and let pass as soon as possible in the section of the track where it can be done safely.
3. Lapped driver must not make sudden race line changes on straight or mid corner, be predictable.
4. On every track in lfs there is at least few places where safe overtaking can take place, if distance between corners is 200m or more this location is considered safe to pass and BF driver is obliged to let pass.
----------------------------------------Special Oval-racing rules:In order to get the oval races better organised we have come up with the following solutions:
Single car qualification:
First driver goes out on the track, second driver has to wait at the end of the pitlane.
First driver does 2 laps (outlap, hotlap).
As soon as the first driver starts his hotlap, the second driver starts his outlap and the next driver goes to the end of the pitlane.
Right after your hotlap you hit SHIFT+S or SHIFT+P.
The names will be announced by an admin.
When a player obstructs another player during is out- and/or hotlap he/she will be banned without a warning.
Start procedure:
The start will be a rolling start behind the safety car.
As soon as the lights go green the whole field starts driving at a slow pace and with all drivers behind eachother.
The safety car will go to the front of the field as soon as possible.
The first full lap is behind the safetycar at a speed of around 180 km/h.
On the second lap the safety car will switch off the lights and "SC in this lap" will be displayed on the Pitboard or as a chatmessage and as a yellow racecontrol message.
The safetycar will go into the pitlane at the beginning of the last straight of the circuit and from that point the polesitter decides the pace of the field.
Overtaking, or driving side by side, is NOT allowed until the finishline is crossed.
Race:
During the race the safety car is standby at the end of the pitlane with his driver watching the leader of the race.
As soon as an accident happens the safety car CAN be deployed (this will be decided at the moment itself) and will pickup the leader.
As soon as "Safety car deployed, NO overtaking" is displayed on your screen you may not overtake people unles they are part of the accident or when they drive into the pitlane.
Reduce your speed to give the safetycar the opportunity to get to the front of the field.
The leader of the field catches up on the safety car and one or more laps will be driven in formation.
It is allowed to make a pit stop during safety car periods.
During the race it is not allowed to bump draft.
During the race you are allowed only one move in order to hold someone behind you.
It goes without saying that one move is not considered slamming someone into the wall or something like that.
You can change line one time and after that you have to wait and see if that was enough.
Pit stops:
You are allowed to make as many pit stops as you want. One of them has to be made inside the pitwindow, which will be announced shortly before the race.
Accidents:
When you have been in an accident you are allowed to drive (use the inner lane of the circuit and be careful) to the pits and get your car repaired.
If you can't make it to the pits you have to go to spectate (SHIFT+S) and after that you are not allowed to rejoin the race.
General information:
We as AB tried our best to get this race well organised but there are always people that "don't know" the rules.
If we see people wrecking other people on purpose, when we see people swearing at another one (no matter if you are right in an argument or not) or when we see other things we don't like, we will act fast and hard.
So please, be fast, race fair, have fun and above all: use your brain and common sense!
Additional rules effective from 13-10-09:- As soon as the safety car is deployed, everybody has to reduce the speed to 120 or 150 km/h (depends on what car(s) we are using)
- When a yellow flag is shown, you have to reduce speed at that point but in a safe way
- Overtaking under yellow is not allowed, in case you overtake someone by accident, you have to give the place back as soon as possible
- Procedure when given "Lapped cars may now overtake"
After this message, lapped cars (with one ore more laps down to the leader) may safely overtake the field and take position at the end of the field.
Drive carefully to the front of the field, drive as fast as possible to the end of the field and take position there.
It's not allowed to overtake other lapped drivers while driving to the end of the field.
----------------------------------------Inactivity of members:When you join our league we expect a bit of commitment. If you have
not visited our site for
30 days then your membership will be terminated. We have rather 20 committed drivers than 50 not so committed drivers. If you can't race for a few weeks, please send a message to Starbert so your membership will not be terminated. You have to visit our site once before every race, because the servernames and passwords can be found at site.
General Rules:In the first lap of a race it is allowed to vote for a restart. This is only allowed when a LFS or Lapper bug occurs of some kind, for example a wrong grid, or when there is a big crash in the first lap. To have a restart, 70% of the racers must vote for this. After the first lap voting is forbidden and impossible.
We race for fun, so we use our minds and try to drive as fair as possible. We are humans so mistakes can be made, but don’t swear at someone else when you are out of the race.
So don’t spoil the race for someone else. If someone spoils the race on purpose, he will be banned and will be removed from the league.
It’s your choice with what kind of hardware you will race (keyboard, mouse, joystick or steering wheel). It’s allowed to race with the external view and the cockpit view.
It’s allowed to use your own setups, trade or download them from the internet.
It’s not allowed to use a cheat code or some kind of hack to make your car go faster.
If we determine that you are cheating, you will be banned and removed from the league.
It is not allowed to race with a car skin that is offensive, racist, hateful, harassing, obscene,
profane, sexually oriented, you will be banned and removed from the league.
If you have any questions about these rules, you can send a message to
Starbert (League Admin)
If you apply for a league, you agree to obey the rules above.
