Thanks for the big build up Mich

Some of us have been having a few discussions on the IRC channel lately about the schedule for next season and also the general setup of the AB leagues. That I'm proposing comes partly from these discussions and also partly from my own thoughts.

The general consensus seems to be that the S2 league is the mainstay of the AB leagues. For me the format as it stands has work pretty well. I think the numbers joining the races at the start of last season show this, although it was sad to see those numbers dwindle slightly over the season. I think this might be due to the 3 week gap between each S2 race. It's hard to keep the interest and momentum going when there is such a big gap till the next race.

So......in order to keep the momentum going I think we should only ever have 2 leagues going at any one time. The Lemans league is pretty good as it stands and I think works pretty well spread out over the year as it is. The weeks in between can all be used for the same league....S2L for example. This would mean we could have 2 or 3 S2L races on consecutive weeks and hopefully keep the interest going.

Obviously this means that we would complete the S2L faster. We could then run a short league...FOR, FZ5 Cup, Slow League, etc.....whatever ideas we come up with. Once this finishes....run another S2L season....and so on....

The possible schedule could look like this....

05/09/10 FOR – Season 3 round 9 FO8@KY3
12/09/10 LeMans GTR@SO4R
19/09/10 S2L – Season 7 round 10 FOX@AS3
26/09/10 FOR – Season 3 round 10BF1@AS6 this is the end of the current S2 and FOR Leagues
03/10/10 LeMans GTR@BL1R
10/10/10 S2L – Season 8 round 1 UF1@AS1R
17/10/10 S2L – Season 8 round 2 XFR+UFR@BL1R
24/10/10 LeMans GTR@FE4R
31/10/10 S2L – Season 8 round 3 FBM@FE2
07/11/10 S2L – Season 8 round 4 FXO@SO5R
14/11/10 LeMans GTR@AS7
21/11/10 S2L – Season 8 round 5 XFR+UFR@WE1
28/11/10 S2L – Season 8 round 6 F08@KY1
05/12/10 LeMans GTR@TBA
12/12/10 S2L – Season 8 round 7 GTR@AS3
19/12/10 S2L – Season 8 round 8 FOX@AS7
Xmas Break
02/01/11 S2L – Season 8 round 9 FZ5+RAC@FE3
09/01/11 S2L – Season 8 round 10 XFG+XRG@S04
16/01/11 LeMans – New Season
23/01/11 FZ5 Cup Season 2
30/01/11 FZ5 Cup Season 2
06/02/11 FZ5 Cup Season 2
13/02/11 LeMans – New Season
20/02/11 FZ5 Cup Season 2
27/02/11 FZ5 Cup Season 2
06/03/11 FZ5 Cup Season 2
13/03/11 LeMans – New Season
20/03/11 S2L – Season 9 round 1
27/03/11 S2L – Season 9 round 2
03/04/11 S2L – Season 9 round 3
10/04/11 S2L – Season 9 round 4
17/04/11 LeMans – New Season
24/04/11 S2L – Season 9 round 5
01/05/11 S2L – Season 9 round 6
08/05/11 S2L – Season 9 round 7
15/05/11 S2L – Season 9 round 8
22/05/11 LeMans – New Season
29/05/11 S2L – Season 9 round 9
05/06/11 S2L – Season 9 round 10
12/06/11 Slow League Season 2
19/06/11 Slow League Season 2
26/06/11 LeMans – New Season
03/07/11 Slow League Season 2
10/07/11 Slow League Season 2
17/07/11 Slow League Season 2
24/07/11 Slow League Season 2

The Slow league or FZ5 Cup could be replaced with a short FOR league to give the single seater junkies a bit of a fix . This proposal is more about the overall setup of the AB leagues and less about the combo for each week, although I did try to use the combo ideas for S2L that other guys have suggested in this thread. I also tried to start with easier combos and progress to more difficult combos as the season progresses. This was not my idea, I stole it from a suggestion in another thread (might have been wadallats idea), but I thought it was a good suggestion.

I have added an oval race......please feel free to drop this. The oval is definitely not my favourite track, I noted that I was not alone in this thought .

This is up for comments, criticism, whatever

Let me know what you think.

Weefelly.

I like this Wee, it is a good proposal. Maybe we could extend the slow league a bit to cover the whole holiday-time? In NL the holidays end at the beginning of september. So maybe 2 or 3 racenights extra??

I think that when something works needs to be improved but not changed, then S2L is a league that works well is demonstrated by the fact that we are always plenty of racers, so we can improve but not change!!!!This is my opinion

I think Luca is right on this one.

What do you guys think about setting up some sort of SetupGrid for the leagues here at Absolute Beginners?

If I speak for myself, I don't have the time to test drive and tweak a race setup and/or a qualify setup. I struggle already to learn how to drive the car/track combo, especially when there are races every week. Therefore I think it would be nice to build some sort of database for each event where everyone can post his setup and the PB/TB time he got with it together with his controller configuration.

I know there are already two sites that do this but they don't have setups for each combination and sometimes I have serious doubts about the reported times. Of course a setup is dependent on your driving style but I think it would help a lot of us here.

PS: I posted this here because I think it should be included into next season, at least for S2L.

    I want to help also
I just saw a nice "race in pictures" from the penultimate slow championship race
I would like to have this feature for the next S2 championship and maybe for other races. It's really fun to see Kajaus up in the air or me and Starbert causing the accident in the first chicane (both incidents in the FE2 XFG race).
And regarding the next races I posted some remarks, I would like more GT cars and two UF1 and XFG races. In the end I will race no mater what.So bring it on
But I would like to see more "race in pictures"

Thanks Bert......I'm sure it could be adapted to fit in with the holidays in the NL .

I will try to post more "race in pictures" when i have time. Unfortunately i'm not a regular driver this summer. We will see what happens in september.
I'm glad to see that people like this kind of "race report".

I can imagine that it's time consuming. I also wanted to do some short movies of the races, like Gutholz and Mazda did, but in the end because of not having time, I decided that I'm gonna do one for the whole season But I still didn't start it
So whenever somebody has time to make this kind of reports, they are really welcomed

mich, what is this car ngt ? never heard of that

at the combos i posted before, one thing needs to be checked, and its the lap numbers. how many laps should it be to make it the usual s2l lenght race (40-50 minutes).
fbm is a bit tougher i think than fox for beginners. i would love to see an fo8 race as well haha (ok, just joking )
lx4 on not oval track sounds interesting.
i would keep the gt cars in le mans league (and out of aero tracks. those are for single seater open wheel goodies )

NGT is XFR + UFR class
      LRF - LX6 + RAC + FZ5
      TBO - ...

Lap count is imo no problem at all, that's just a matter of half an hour

I'd like to ask Bert and admins, if we have a green on what Wee briefly presented on top of this page, so we could make it even better.
